When/how did you join Marsh?

I joined Marsh 11 months ago after graduating from Cal State Fullerton with a degree in International Business and Finance. I am a TRAC Associate in the Multinational Client Services department based in Marsh’s Los Angeles office where I offer insurance broking and risk management advisory to a wide variety of U.S. and foreign based multinational clients.

Describe your time in the TRAC Program

My favorite part about working at Marsh is the ability to gain insight and learn from the industry experts, whose knowledge and advice has contributed tremendously towards my professional development. Additionally, since Marsh is such a large organization, with a vast footprint not only domestically but also internationally, the projects I work on have been highly dynamic providing me the ability to improve both my critical thinking and communication skills. Another great aspect of Marsh is the current investment in innovation. As part of the next young generation entering the insurance and risk management work force, I take great pride in a company which welcomes innovative ideas from young professionals. I am currently serving as the co-chair of Marsh’s Young Professionals colleague resource group, which is dedicated to promoting professional development for Marsh’s Los Angeles colleagues, and I have seen various TRAC associates showcase their innovative ideas in a welcoming and professional environment.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My role involves support in program design, marketing, and implementation of global property and international casualty programs through the coordination of Marsh’s worldwide network. I work with both middle market and corporate clients in various industries, including, manufacturing, engineering, oil and gas, entertainment, technology, and retail. I typically work on four to five projects, which involves interacting directly with our clients and local Marsh offices globally.  It is important that I prioritize my tasks at the beginning of each week, as the nature of my work involves a high flow of information from various countries, but in turns has provided me with constant learning opportunities by allowing me to engage with different risk management professionals from across the globe.

Do you have any advice for candidates or incoming TRAC associates?

The best advice I would give for those applying to the TRAC program is to conduct research on the various industries Marsh’s serves. This will allow candidates to find out which industry practice interests them and provide an opportunity to create a proper career path once working at Marsh.
