Matthew has over 30 years’ experience in both broking and insurance underwriting in New Zealand and London.

Matthew originally  joined JLT in New Zealand in 1991. His responsibilities have included the national management of JLT’s Public Sector business along with the establishment of the Echelon claims management business in New Zealand, a bespoke third party administrator providing claims services to clients, managed funds and insurers.

In 2010 Matthew was appointed Chief Executive Officer of JLT New Zealand with a continued direct involvement in JLT’s Public Sector practice. He was also instrumental in the establishment of JLT NZ’s people risk business following the acquisitions of Wellnz and Alpha, two leading brands in case management and return to work services.

Following the acquisition of JLT by Marsh and subsequent integration, Matthew was appointed Executive Chairman in 2019. He remains directly involved in the new Marsh Public Sector and People Risk businesses along with an expanded role in major client engagement.
