Marsh Korea Teamed Up for a Good Cause Again

On May 30, colleagues of Marsh Korea spent meaningful time as a one-day cook preparing meals for seniors in the community. With working together with the community’s volunteer center in Jung-gu and operating the home delivery side dishes program, approximately 20 Marsh colleagues cooked three Korean festive dishes such as Bulgogi, Japchae and Daikon rolls for more than 16 people.

The Jung-gu Volunteer Center is a community-based social service agency and provides delivery of daily necessities and side dishes to about 120 elderly residents who live alone with low income. The center said that the home delivery not only ensures that seniors get some nutritious food, but serves as a “daily wellness check” to see how they are doing by visiting and calling.

After making the food, Marsh Korea colleagues were provided with two to four recipient names, their locations and contact information.

“They opened the door with a huge grin. Some of the elderly were chattier and wanted to sit and talk to us. For one person, it was her birthday when we visited! Food is one thing but I think they like the visit more than the food.” said Jiyoung Suh from Marsh Korea’s Operations division.

Marsh Korea will continue to give their time up to help others in need by gathering again in June to make side dishes and help the elderly community. There are also plans to visit the Sundukwon Orphanage in September again this year.
