Since joining Marsh in 2003, Derek has been a team leader and Account Executive, managing a portfolio of around twenty clients.

Qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in London and after eight years in London and Paris, serving national and international clients, Derek joined the Head Office of The General Electric Company, p.l.c. (“GEC”) then a FTSE 100 company, in a troubleshooting role. He soon acquired responsibility for UK insurance matters and then and then led a major project to consolidate large numbers of individual policies into global programs with a captive at the heart of the program and brought together risk management professionals into one world-wide team, achieving substantial savings, improved coverage and a renewed focus on risk management.
He also dealt with the insurance challenges of the Year 2000 and a major program of acquisitions, demergers and disposals. Derek left Marconi for Marsh following the successful financial restructuring of Marconi plc (successor to GEC).
